This Christmas season we have the most amazing opportunity in the history of our organization. An anonymous donor has pledged up to $100,000 in matching funds. You can literally double your holiday or year-end gift to New Hope Initiative. This is by far the largest individual gift we have ever had the opportunity to receive and we are asking for your help. The donor has requested these funds be collected at our Houston holiday party on December 9. If you can send a gift prior to that date or donate online before that date your gift will be doubled! Could you please help us in this effort. Please read the articles below to see examples of how your gift will make a difference. If you can't give before 12/9 please consider giving between now and the close of the year. Thank you!

Boaz and Collins began their relationship with New Hope Initiative as primary school students at our Kibera school. We have supported and encouraged them through secondary school and college. Collins will graduate from college this December with a degree in Hospitality Management. Both Collins and Boaz are working full time at our new self-sustainability project the Acacia Tree Lodge in Nairobi, Kenya. This is the mission of NHI to move beyond help that fosters dependence to help that brings long-term independence.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

Houston, TX is home to New Hope Initiative and we feel compelled to make a difference in our hometown that is suffering so greatly. We personally know literally hundreds of families that have lost their homes and possessions to the worst natural disaster in American history. We have started the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund and we are asking our supporters to help us bless the people of this amazing city. New Hope Initiative will give 100% of all funds raised to this effort (with no administrative cut being taken out) and we will see that every dollar goes to an individual family who needs to rebuild their homes and lives. We are partnering with a few local churches who have supported us over the years and now it's our turn to support them. You could not find any other organization with a more effective plan to use your money wisely. Please help us by donating online or by sending a check to the address below (though mail will be delayed for a while).

Almost Home

Almost Home

Our ambitious goal of building a guest house in Nairobi, Kenya to bring self-sustainability to our compelling projects among the materially disadvantaged of the Kibera slum is VERY close to being a reality. This has been a challenging project in so many ways and yet God has miraculously provided at every critical juncture and we are "almost home". We are writing one more time to ask our committed partners if you can help us get this project finished and furnished in time to welcome the first of our 7 summer teams on June 1. The pictures below show a model room and bathroom which we need to replicate 15 times. Also to equip the facility with furnishings, linens, kitchen equipment, and tableware is very expensive. We need to raise $100,000 in the next 30 days to bring this project to a completion and to begin to reap the returns from our investment.

Please remember that 100% of the profits from this endeavor will go to the worldwide mission of New Hope Initiative and your generous tax deductible investment will reap dividends for decades to come. We are still offering this very special deal:

- Gifts of over $25,000 are good for free lifetime lodging
- Gifts from $10,000 to $25,000 are good for 5 years of free lodging
- Gifts of $1,000 to $10,000 are good for 3 years of free lodging

Any size gift will be greatly appreciated. If you donate online please include the words "guesthouse" in the specify donation box.

Thank you again for helping to make this incredible dream a reality.

Self-Sustaining

Self-Sustaining

This is one of the current buzzwords in missions and humanitarian work around the world. In the face of too many projects that have failed the test of time after western leadership and money departed, most good organizations are looking for ways to insure that the work they are doing will continue into the future with local leadership and local resources. This is a noble goal, but one that is very difficult to truly achieve. When you consider the humanitarian and spiritual work that New Hope Initiative does among some of the materially poorest people on the planet it is hard to imagine any scenario in which these works could one day be self-supporting. To help us realize the worthy goal of self-sustainability, we have embarked on a very ambitious project in Nairobi, Kenya.

In 2017 we hope to open the Acacia Tree Lodge; a 20 room boutique hotel that will not only provide lodging for our many teams in the region, but also should be able to capitalize on the healthy business and tourism travel market in Kenya. We will give 100% of the proceeds of this project back to our works in East Africa and thereby provide a lasting funding stream that will allow these works to progress even further in the short term and to remain stronger and viable longer with a self sustaining funding stream. We still need a substantial amount of financial help in the next 6 months to see this project completed and we would love to have you help us in this work that will give back for decades to come. If you would like to contribute to this project, please email Sandy Baird (s.baird@newhopeinitiative.org)
