Our life-changing work in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya is facing a serious crisis. The Kenyan government has mandated upgrades to schools nationwide to include facility improvements and the addition of libraries, teacher conference rooms, and technology labs. These changes are not optional but must be immediately pursued in order for an institution to stay open. We applaud this initiative by the government to improve schools however it represents a crisis for us as an organization because all these changes are far outside our 2020 budget.

WITH CRISIS COMES OPPORTUNITY

This challenge has been met with much prayer and discussion. Already our Acacia Tree Lodge, as part of its giving-back mission, has paid for the most pressing repairs that had to be completed before school opened earlier this month. Incredibly we have also been approached by local property owners, for the first time in years, about acquiring adjacent property so the library and tech labs can be built. What an answer to prayer! Also, we have applied for a grant to help with the library construction costs. God is at work! However, we need our friends and supporters to step up with a great move of generosity so that $75,000 can be raised and our school saved. We need these funds in the next 60 days so time is critical. We have never asked for help in a crisis like this before but today we desperately need our supporters to step up and meet this need.
