New Hope met Dominic when a medical team from Detroit, along with ministry founders Sandy and Karen Baird, and Dr. Byemba from the Arusha Medical Clinic, Tanzania were finally able to return to Kibera's mobile medical clinic after two years. Due to the pandemic, our team was met by overwhelming medical needs. By God's timing and grace the team met Dominic. This is his story...

Meet Dominic Mutua, a seven-year-old boy who, with his mother, came across the New Hope mobile clinic in Kibera in January 2022. At age 4, Dominic developed swelling of his left jaw that progressed into significant swelling of his left arm. He also experienced bony abnormalities in his cervical spine, leaving him in constant pain and getting progressively weaker. His mother had brought him to countless free clinics but to no avail nor future hope. Sadly, people near his home beat him when his mother was away. She can no longer work in order to protect her son. Their family has disowned Dominic due to his illness and fear he is cursed. His mother struggles to provide for Dominic and his 12-year-old brother.

Dominic's family is in a desperate situation, in need of a miracle. New Hope feels called to help Dominic and his family and show them God’s love. Together, we can make this possible.

A medical evaluation is underway at Nairobi General Hospital. Dominic is under the care of Dr. Nyambura, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist. Thus far, Dominic has completed full-body CT scans and basic blood work. His CT scans returned abnormal. His diagnosis remains unknown. There are concerning findings in his cervical spine and brain that need urgently addressing, requiring evaluations by a neurologist and neurosurgeon. His medical and living costs remain unknown.

New Hope’s mission is to create paths out of spiritual and physical poverty for some of the world's most underprivileged children and families. Would you consider partnering with New Hope to support Dominic financially and prayerfully?
